People face various issues while registering at the income tax portal for filing of their tax returns.Following are the various types of problems faced and their probable solutions.
PAN ALREADY REGISTERED.
This occurs when the pan has already been registered by someone else or the assessee might have forgotten that whether he has registered pan or not.In this case, there is one solution which is resetting the password.
Solution:To reset the password,the assessee has 4 options to reset the password i.e aadhar OTP,OTP on the registered mobile number and email id(the number and mail gave during registration), answering the secret question and the final option is obtaining Digital signature.
If the assessee is using the number which is given on aadhar card, then that will be the quickest and easiest way to reset the password.If non of the first three options are working then the assessee has to obtain the digital signature and reset the password through DSC.
FIRST NAME, MIDDLE NAME, SURNAME DOESN’T MATCH
This problem occurs for most of people.The reason is the name as per income tax department records may not be the same as printed on pan card. While applying for pan card there are 2 fields.No.1 is to fill FIRST MIDDLE AND SURNAME & No.2 is the name to be printed on PAN card. Hence the person applying pan card might have filled it incorrectly.
Solution: kindly login to https://onlineservices.tin.egov-nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp. Click on challan No.280. Fill in the Mandatory fields (Don’t worry, this is just to get the name.No payment of tax is necessary). After entering all fields click on Proceed. On Next Page you will find the name as per Department.Now copy the name and paste on the income tax registration page.
